Olga Simón

Olga Simón does not belong to the group of artists who seek quick and easy visual images, but rather to the smaller category of those who are dedicated to recreating an atmosphere, an environment, a situation, fully immersing themselves in the search and analyzing the results
Miguel Fernández-Cid

After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the University of the Basque Country in 1997, Olga Simón obtained the Diploma of Advanced Studies in 2004 with the research Narcissistic Photography: A Path Towards Introspection. She continued her search for new perspectives with a Master’s degree in Author Photography at EFTI and by attending more than forty workshops led by renowned artists such as Duane Michals, Ouka Lele, and Chema Madoz.

Since her first solo exhibition in the 90s, her work has been exhibited in Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, Italy, and Argentina. Among her recognitions are the Scholarship from the University of the Basque Country [1996], her solo exhibition at the Sala Rekalde Area2 in Bilbao [1997], second prize at the Thibierge & Comar Awards in Paris [2006], and her poetic work Jardín Polar [2008], recognized and exhibited internationally.

Exhibitions such as Tears [2015] and going through… / atravesando… [2016] delve into intangible emotions, inviting the viewer to reflect based on their own experience. The artist’s work seeks to create an impact that transcends mere contemplation: it aims to transform the viewer’s perception, to penetrate them, to turn the visit into an experience that resonates beyond the exhibition space.

Her works are part of institutional collections such as the Madrid in Memoriam Photographic Archive of the Spanish Ministry of Culture, the Musée de l’Elysée in Lausanne [Switzerland], and the Alliance Française Collection in Spain, as well as over a hundred private collections.

She has worked with galleries in Spain and Germany, such as 100 kubik [Cologne], Astarté [Madrid], and Encant [Menorca], while also developing occasional collaborations with others, including Rafael Pérez Hernando [Madrid] and Adora Calvo [Salamanca]

With each project, Olga Simón invites the viewer on a journey of reflection, experimentation, and emotion, reaffirming that art is a unique path for each individual.
